TO OUR SEMINARIES: WHITE SUPREMACY IN OUR MIDST

The following emails to our four main US seminaries were sent, respectively, two weeks ago today on January 25 and four days ago on February 4. We hope and trust that a response will yet be forthcoming. Perhaps some of our readers will wish to contact them for clarification.

Re: White supremacy in our seminaries

Dear Fathers:

On January 22 Orthodoxy in Dialogue published an Open Letter to the Assembly of Bishops, viewable here, about the presence of white supremacist idealogues among our clergy and seminarians. The Letter has been signed by Father John Breck, among other clergy.

Lest anyone think we overstated our case, the SPLC-designated hate group, the Traditional Worker Party, has come out of the closet, viewable here, boasting of their growing numbers…among our clergy and seminarians.

We are not taking an adversarial position with our hierarchs and seminaries, but an assistive one. We want to help our Church, her archpastors and pastors, and her institutions.

We invite each of you individually, or as a group, to write a response outlining your awareness of these issues and what steps have been, or will be, taken to address them in each of your schools. The thousands of readers around the globe who have read, and are continuing to read, our Open Letter and TWP’s response will rejoice to see that these concerns are being taken seriously, and will pray for you and support you in any way possible in your efforts.

Sincerely in Christ,

Giacomo Sanfilippo, Editor

This is to follow up on our email of January 25, ten days ago, to St. Vladimir’s, St. Tikhon’s, Holy Cross, and Holy Trinity Seminaries, and to inquire whether we might anticipate a response.

Our readers assure us that their concerns are not going to go away.

Sincerely in Christ,

Giacomo Sanfilippo
