November 20 is observed every year as the Transgender Day of Remembrance. Statistics show that, among LGBTQI people, transgender persons face a disproportionately high incidence of violence, murder, and suicide. Studies also show the direct and indirect complicity of religious ideologies in creating and perpetuating a social climate in which these tragedies take place far too often.
May their memory be eternal.
