FOR I WAS HUNGRY AND YOU FED ME, A STRANGER AND YOU WELCOMED ME by Priest Aaron Warwick

feedingI commend Orthodoxy in Dialogue for once again offering an opportunity for your readers to give alms to the homeless during this Nativity Fast through your 3rd Annual Feed the Homeless on Christmas Campaign. All of us Orthodox Christians certainly understand the importance of ministering to the homeless as emphasized in the Gospel from St. Matthew (25:31-46) on the Sunday of the Last Judgment.

I thank you also for your gracious offer to allow me to write about another ministry to the homeless, one that I hope other Orthodox churches will consider exploring. The opportunity presented itself to our St. Mary Church (AOCA) in Wichita a few years ago. Read More

TRUMP ADMINISTRATION INVITES PATRIARCH BARTHOLOMEW TO SPEAK ON…THE ENVIRONMENT?

patriarchbartholomew-600x699

Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople

On October 31, 2019 Theodore Kalmoukos reported for The National Herald that the Trump administration has invited “Green” Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople to speak at a conference on “the protection of the Natural Environment” in May 2020. The report goes on to say, “His All Holiness will be granted a private audience by President Donald Trump at the White House between May 12 and 14.” Read More

IN THE NEWS FROM GEORGIA: IS THERE NO STOPPING THE KREMLIN PATRIARCHATE?

In our foreword to The Muscovite Schism Lurches toward Outright Heresy we noted that “the Moscow Patriarchate’s move to assume jurisdiction over Turkey’s Russian-speaking Orthodox Christians constitutes the heresy of ethnophyletism writ large;” and in our foreword to Meanwhile, in Holy Mother Russia…, “that, as go the Kremlin’s domestic and foreign policies, so goes the  Russian Orthodox Church. The almost daily escalation of the Muscovite Schism…must be understood solely through the lens of Kremlin geopolitics.” The following very brief report from Georgia serves as yet another case in point in the Kremlin’s and Moscow Patriarchate’s shared, unbridled lust for power and in the absolute pastoral and political need for the autocephaly of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine.
When will the Orthodox Church in America (OCA) break communion with Moscow to protest its chronically uncanonical, bad behaviour?

Tbilisi Warns Moscow Not to Proceed to Intrusion

The Patriarch of Georgia calls on the Patriarch of Russia to not intrude on the canonical territory of the Georgian Orthodox Church.

According to yesterday’s letter released by the Patriarchate of Georgia, Patriarch Ilia expressed his concern both about the expansionist tendencies of Russian troops in the Tskhinvali region and about the alleged intention of the Patriarchate of Russia to send priests to this region in order to minister.
